Creative Kids Playhouse Presents ‘The Wizard of Oz’

Orange County Children’s Theatre Troupe Marks 100th Production with Musical Based on the L. Frank Baum Classic

 

Creative Kids Playhouse Children’s Theatre of Orange County, an education-based nonprofit organization committed to fostering a love of the performing arts in youngsters, today announced its 100th theatrical production, “The Wizard of Oz,” running from June 22 through 24 at Laguna Hills High School.

 

The musical will feature the Creative Kids Playhouse (CKP) Camelot Players, ranging in age from 9 to 16, performing the Broadway script based on the beloved 1939 film starring Judy Garland. The classic tale follows Dorothy and her dog, Toto, on an exciting adventure through Oz and their quest to return home. Musical numbers include, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” and “If I Only Had a Brain,” among others.

 

“From auditions to rehearsals, costume fittings to set construction, CKP’s Camelot Players have been working hard with our drama, dance and voice instructors to make this, our 100th production, a very special one,” said Michele Sheehy-Bowren, artistic director and co-founder, Creative Kids Playhouse. “I can’t imagine a better way to mark this incredible milestone. Audiences are in for a real treat.”

 

Performances will be held on June 22 and 23 at 6:00 p.m., and June 24 at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the Laguna Hills High School Theater located at 25401 Paseo De Valencia, Laguna Hills, Calif. Discounted presale tickets are available online at $14 per premium seat and $11 per limited-visibility seat.  A small quantity of seats will be available day of performance at the box office for $15 each.
