MK Travel: Gloria Residence Hotel in Taipei

The start of summer is among us, and that means it's time for family vacations and travel season to start!  For our family, we recently ventured overseas to show our kids the beautiful city of Taipei, Taiwan.  For this vacation, we decided to stay in Taipei for a week to show the kids around the city for the first time.  While finding the right flight was the first step, the more important (and harder) decision was finding the right hotel: not only did it have to be kid friendly, but it also needed to be easily accessible to the MTR (subway network) for our day trips.

We stumbled upon the Gloria Residence Hotel while doing an internet search and it immediately caught our attention.  It was one of the only hotels that functioned as a trendy apartment while still retaining all the hotel amenities and services that we've come to enjoy and look forward to while on vacation.  For example, the room included all the essentials things you'd expect from the comforts of home (washer/dryer, kitchen, flat screen television, and suite size living and bedroom space), the hotel also offers everything you'd expect from a top notch hotel (room cleaning each morning, hot breakfast every morning, and concierge desk).  To top it off, this hotel has an indoor swimming pool that our kids absolutely loved!

Another good sign that we chose the right hotel was seeing other families with small children throughout our stay.  The hotel style is very modern with clean lines and stylish decor everywhere you look and the rooms are larger than most hotels in the area. We settled on the hotel's "Infinity Room" for more space, and it was perfect for the 5 of us.  You can request for extra roll out beds should you also need it.

The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, cookware, plates, and bowls/cups etc.  There is a stove top, microwave, fridge, sink and dishwasher, perfect for a family of almost any size.  The room also includes a rice cooker and a hot water dispenser.  Again, the convenience of home is all here too, and it makes such a big difference for a long trip to be able to also wash your clothes for a refresh / reset for the remainder of your trip.

A nice bonus for young families is that there is a 24 hour free snack bar inside the hotel, which is exclusive for only the guests to enjoy.  Each room is also provided free snacks and drinks every day too.  This came in handy when we headed out each day for our excursions around town.

We thoroughly enjoyed the daily buffet breakfast at this hotel.  It was a good blend of western and Asian style food. One of the best parts is the "make your own" juice bar.  Here, you're encouraged to create and make your own freshly squeezed juice in the morning.  There is also daily fresh milk and yogurt provided for the little ones.  We had a great experience at Gloria Residence and felt right at home during our stay.  We'll definitely be back when we're in town, and encourage you to explore and do the same.
