SAWDUST ART & CRAFT FESTIVAL

The Sawdust Art Festival’s summer event—currently celebrating its 50th year with a new theme “Celebrating the Soul of Art for 50 Years!”—runs from Friday, June 24 through Sunday, August 28, 2016, and features the fine art and craft of over 200 Laguna Beach artists, live performances, fashion shows, workshops for all ages, and an array of delicious food and drink. Art enthusiasts, collectors, and novice artists have been coming in droves to the Sawdust since its beginning in 1966. Media include hand-blown and fused glass, painting, jewelry, surf art, ceramics, clothing and textiles, wood and metal sculpture, scrimshaw, photography, and so much more. Participating artists are eager to share their creative process with visitors, answer questions, provide art classes, and put on live art demonstrations.

The Sawdust Art & Craft Festival is proud to have cultivated both a wide range of new and returning artists, along with an ever-growing base of enthusiastic collectors. In order for any artist to participate in the festival, they must showcase works that have been personally designed and handmade. Some of these unique offerings will be made before your very eyes as you wander the grounds!

Summer Festival Classes: With 9 weeks of arts and crafts classes throughout the summer months, the Sawdust Art Festival is jam-packed with an incredible line-up of fun activities for creative minds of all ages!

Throughout the festival, a wide variety of classes are offered from our expert professionals, many of which are exhibitors, ready to teach you tips and techniques to enhance your crafts.

Some of Sawdust’s most popular offerings will get your hands dirty and your jaws dropping to the ground. Parents and their kids often find themselves behind the pottery wheel creating memories and works of art that last a lifetime. Plus, follow in the footsteps of the world-renowned artists of Italy by taking on the legendary tradition of blowing glass at the festival’s Glass Hut – a unique experience not easy to come by.

Daily art projects for all ages are offered at the Ceramic Center, Children’s Art Spot and Studio One.
