Extreme Dinosaurs and Hands-On Harley Davidson

New Exhibits at Discovery Cube OC May 28 – September 11, 2016

If your child loves dinosaurs, the Extreme Dinosaurs Exhibit at the Discovery Cube Orange County is definitely the place to go!  This very interactive exhibit features roughly twenty dinosaurs including the infamous T-rex along with beloved favorites like Triceratops.  The animatronic dinosaurs roar and move as you explore the exhibit.  The movements and sound may be startling at first but once my kids realized what was happening, they weren’t bothered by it at all.

Interactive exhibits include animatronic dinosaurs that one can move with a touch of a button, replicas of fossils that kids can touch and a dig site where kids can be the paleontologist and use brushes to “unearth” fossils.  My kids spent about twenty minutes here discovering what was hidden underneath the dirt made out of foam bits (hands stay clean!).

This exhibit perfectly compliments the outdoor Dino Quest at the Discovery Cube.  Kids are sent on interactive research missions exploring the lifesized Argentinosaurus, TRex skeleton and dig site.  The kids are given transmitters and are sent on a scavenger hunt to find different items in the exhibit.  Completed missions are rewarded with a wooden token to take home.

The Hands-On Harley Davidson exhibit features a Harley Davidson simulator bike where the kids can don a leather vest (with fringe) and a helmet and take a ride in front of a screen.  The exhibit has only one bike so plan ahead since the wait time on a busy day can be long.  This area also had displays where the kids can take a golf ball and roll them on different types of ramps.  Great for teaching kids about gravity, velocity and friction.

The price of general admission is $17.95 for adults, $12.95 for kids 3-14, kids 2 and under are

free.  This price includes access to all the exhibits like the Science of Hockey, the Eco

Challenge and the Dino Quest.  There is an additional cost for the 4D movies.  Parking is $5.
