Visiting Noah's Ark at the Skirball Cultural Center

August 22, 2014

We had the chance to visit Noah's Ark at the Skirball Cultural Center and it was amazing! My kids love the story of the flood and all the animals that entered the ark, so to see it replicated in a floor-to-ceiling size was a dream come true. They were able to run around and play with the handcrafted animals (all crafted from recycled materials), climb the rope courses, explore, and help build the ark!  My son spent a lot of time conducting the storm by turning a wheel and seeing lightning flash.  My daughter took some time sweeping the floors of the ark, putting the animals back in place, and making sure they were fed.

Every corner of this ark is well designed for creative interactions and impromptu happenings.  We especially appreciated the detailed and imaginative ways you can interact with the animals.  For example, you can bend the giraffe's neck, make the wolf howl, wind up the spider web, sit on the turtle...and so much more.  While we were there, there were also craft activities and a scavenger hunt for different animals.  For this exhibit alone, the Skirball Cultural Center is worth the drive.  We will definitely be back!
