We were invited to experience the Science of Gingerbread exhibit at Discovery Cube OC. This is a great holiday exhibit for the whole family! Right when we walked in we could smell the delicious gingerbread and see the contest entries exhibited all over the room. It was fun seeing all the displays and picking out our favorite. 
Next we watched a Science of Gingerbread show and learned how to make gingerbread from scratch. Kids loved participating as a helper and were so into the show. I didn't know that following a recipe can capture their attention like this! We're looking forward to trying this at home.
Out favorite part of the exhibit was the gingerbread derby. We made cars out of candy, gingerbread and crackers and raced them! I was a little skeptical at first that our little cars would actually run but it did, not just once but a few times. What a blast! This is one those creative activities that makes you glad that someone else worked out the kinks for you already so that all you have to do is enjoy.
I have to give a shout out to the Thomas and Friends exhibit on the first floor. If your kids like the Thomas the Tank Engine stories, this would be the best place for a play date. It's so fun! From giant train table to interactive displays and photo booth, you can just dwell in your imagination here. As always the permanent interactive displays at this museum are fantastic. Santa was also in the room to take pictures with! There was so much more to see but we already spent two hours just on the first floor! We'll definitely be back.
