2020 Summer Reading Program For Kids

Summer reading programs are among the most popular events run by public libraries and local businesses. Even with COVID-19 social distancing this summer, here are some information about summer reading programs going on near you!

LA County Public Library
Sign up at your local County Library or online

Orange County Public Library
This summer, join OC public libraries summer reading challenge, Dig deeper: Read, Investigate, Discover. You can earn prizes for each activities completed and earn badges for them.

Barnes & Noble 
Barnes & Noble will give your child a free book after 8 books are read over the summer. There are many free books to choose from and there's something for every kid in grades 1-6.

Scholastic 
Scholastic is offering a summer reading challenge where kids  can read and then go online to record the minutes they've read this summer. Please check out their Home Base page or the Summer Reading program page.

Book It! (Pizza Hut's Program)
Check out the site for more info. Kids who participate in the Camp Book It! can enjoy fun activities, play games, and have the chance to gather some  prizes.


American Girl Summer Reading Bookmark Craft
You can download, print and make the American Girl bookmark craft for your children to keep track of their reading progress. There is a summer reading list that you can use to encourage your children to read different genres of books.

Book Adventure 
Book Adventure is a fun, engaging and free way to motivate your child to read!.


Chuck E Cheese
Chuck E. Cheese has a summer reading program where kids can earn free 10 Chuck E. Cheese tokens for reading each day for 2 weeks.


PBS Summer Reading Program
Check out PBS Summer Reading Program for activities to do during this summer with their Camp PBS Kids.


Junie B. Jones Summer Reading Program
Join the Junie B. Jones Summer Reading Program and you can also sign up for their Kids' Club Newsletter.
